I just find it ironic that, I’m a December baby but I can’t seem to find my ninong and ninang during this season. Not that they’re “hiding” but it’s either they’re now based in a different country or I simply lost contact with them. Which is why I can’t help but I feel a little jealous back when I was young, whenever after Christmas break, my classmates will brag what their ninong or ninang gave them.

But this is not a sourgraping post. 

I just find it fascinating whenever friends of my age already have several inaanak. I always ask them, “You’re not even working yet, how are you suppose to give all of them Christmas gifts?” They will just smile at me and continue finishing their lists. I admire their generosity.

I’ve tried to research about the origin of the concept of “ninang” and “ninong” but I was not able to find that much of information. But I think I’ve never seen this kind of kinship to other country so I guess, this one of the few things which we can consider “unique” in our culture.

Para sa lahat ng mga ninong at ninong, anu pa man ang edad niyo. :)
